Save up for New Guitar

Its been 3.5 years since my black Santa Cruz guitar served me. Learned many songs with her. I still remembered that when I was form 4, I just started to learn guitar (using my roommates), and wanted to buy a guitar myself. For me, that time, I consider RM100 very expensive, so I just wanted to get the cheapo Kapok. Then my mom asked my father if he know anywhere that sells cheap guitar. Then suddenly, one day, when I went home during weekend, surprisingly I saw this “black beauty” lying comfortably on the sofa, really surprised! Picked it up and played, sounds very nice! Never want to play Kapok anymore, lol. Before that my mom afraid that I 三分钟热度 in guitar, but after she watched I played, I felt that she quite happy and relieved though XD

It has followed me to hostel, to school, and even now in Singapore. My skills have improved a lot with it. But now I feel that its time for me to upgrade as I am now a more intermediate player now, and thirst for better tone for practice, performance and self-enjoyment. Never thanked my dad properly for buying the guitar for me, haha, thank you, if you saw this post ^^

Looking for Custom Acoustic full solid at SGD400+-, and Taylor Big Baby at SGD500 (but I am not really fond of small guitar), or even Ayers? SGD1000++ (dreaming).

Set a goal for myself; learn more songs (target: 20 more fingerstyle songs). So far my progress (2/20). Polished some of the old songs I learned before too. Then I can leave my Santa Cruz at Keningau, so I don’t need to bring a guitar back and forth. Or maybe I should keep it around for another tuning? The room is getting smaller lol.

Before Sleeping

Decided to blog a bit before sleeping ( a reason to stay awake until 2am).

Today is another boring day (which I like very much)..

Today together with Michael we did a cover of 张震岳’s 路口, Michael on guitar, me on bass, and both of us harmonizing each other. We NG’ed many times before we nailed a decent take -.- Feel satisfied after we finished the recording.

Then I was too eager to put it up on YouTube, only then I realized I forgot to edit away the last 2 seconds -.- I tried Window Movie Maker, some random video trimmer, but the video seems to downgrade after I trimmed it. Will try with another software tomorrow, hope to retain the quality of the video..

4 more minutes to 2.00am, listening to Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, smooth jazz, very relaxing..

Times up, gotta sleep. *Clock ticks, showing 2.00am*

Not-So-Special-Day

Today woke up at 7.30am. Not feel like going for the math lecture, so I sleep back and then go for Japanese lessons at 10.10am. Then after lunch, finished my AutoCad homeworks, attending AutoCad lessons, the dismiss at 4.

After that I went to meet up with Rocky to do some recordings for Never Say Never. Messed around in clubroom until 5.40pm, then meet with Mushroom to eat Sakura, lol.

Talk crap (and of course eat) until 9pm (mostly eating sashimi, so to get the best price-to-food ratio), then went home.

Then came across a busking threads at SOFT, suddenly feels like applying for the busking permits, but the audition just passed -.-

And the next audition date is 1 April, I will not be in Singapore that time, omg..then the next next date is 2 July..

Guess I don’t have the luck..but that means I have half a year to polish up my skills even better, haha!

Aihh, so random today, better I sleep now lol.

Bass Blog

I feel like starting a blog about bass, and share the basslines I tabbed out from my favorite songs. Hehe, not that I prefer “new” over old” (贪新厌旧) I found that I can play more songs (whole song) than I can by acoustic or electric guitar. And of course I feel good playing bass, like re-ignited my passion toward music, and motivated me to relearn some songs that I’ve learnt through half before.

I guess the $220 can be considered as well spend right

Just realized that most of my posts are related to music. But seriously, the sad thing is I have no life lol. Most of the time I just stay at home, and will only go out if required. If I were to blog about my life, I think it doesn’t have great difference, in days, even in weeks. (One Piece, guitar, food bla bla..)

But I will try my best, I mean to blog about some random thingy that happened

OCS Performance

Woke up at 11am (considered early, for ME okay), and was planned to rush to Sim Lim to buy the damn DI Box. Called Hung Bros and they quote me $96 for the Behringer DI100, WTH! Immediately changed my mind, and decided to bring my poor 2W amp, hope it can at least amplify the signnal a bit (and extend my cable, the cable from my pickup is damn short).

And then meet up with Syuhada, Rocky, Kasem, Serena and Kaira. Practiced a while, eat, then went off to somewhere-around-Jurong-I-don’t-know-where. We were going to perform at the Prom Night (I think something like that) of the army (I think is the people serving NS).

Song performed:

3. Sweet Dreams Acoustic – Syuhada and me as guitarist (I damn blur, want to go down the stage already lol, luckily Syuhada reminded me :S)

We sang If Tomorrow Never Comes and Never Say Never too, as they need more song. Quite enjoy the show, I saw some are singing along, and nodding, really appreciate it. And Fadzly said that they say our performance was up too standard, damn happy

Finally I’ve made up my mind to buy the 2nd hand bass! So I sms the seller on the trip to JB with Michael aka JJ, and will take the bass on Wednesday. Went to JB to cut my damn hair, and went to K-Box. Surprisingly we met Ying Ying, really surprised, and of course, quite delighted. Took some photo, and shopping with her a while before we went back to Singapore.

After the audition on Wednesday, together with Michael we went to take my new babe, the green Cort bass guitar! WooHoo! Really happy to deal with Hak Peng, a humble and friendly person. Then I went out again to meet up with Rocky, Kasem and Dzul. Supposed to be going to jamming, but all jamming studios are fully booked, so we jammed Left 4 Dead in Cyber, LOL! I hate zombie, especially those are running very fast. Yucks.

Around 10pm, went home, and played with my new babe. So I can now call myself a bassist. ^^

KRI Outing (and Practice)

So today Kasem, Rocky and I were going for practice at somewhere near Plaza Singapura. All of us met at KFC, then we went to the park nearby to start our practice. But the place was packed with a lot of people, all sitting in circle. But we just go there, tune the guitar, and just whacked and ignored them. After practising and polishing our medley for Wednesday, we proceed to play other songs. We did a lot of recording though, thanks to Kasem’s videocam. Then we moved, as the place is too noisy, and we ended up in the passage connected to Plaza Singapura. And we continue the recording lol.

We sang many songs there, If Tomorrow Never Comes, our Medley, Come Home, Pu Tong Peng You, An Jing, just to name a few. The passerby does look at us, haha, an uncle even clap for us ^^ Feel excited though, next time must do this again

After that, we just went to the hawker centre, eating and talk crap until 9pm+-, then we went home. Bought groceries with JJ at AMK Hub before going home.

OMG 2 days left, gonna study hard @.@

Lousy Day

So the day start off with the Math lecture at 8am (don’t wanna say the word ‘xxxless’), woke up at 7.38am and decided to give face to Angpa the lecturer. As usual, class is noisy and I sit on the back doing my own thing. Maybe because of the students’ feedback, Angpa today damn weird and keep on asking us to keep quiet. Then after the break many people didn’t come back punctually, and still the class is very noisy. Then he suddenly yelled lol. Lose his temper XD “You are not supposed to talk when the lecturer was talking..bla bla..” something like that. Shocked lol, I was Mafia War-ing that time XD. Anyway, its not my matter, just sit there quietly and surf net.

The next is the Japanese Oral Test. Thanks to anime, I think I done quiet ok, its a little bit nervous when I am there. But I am the last one, wait damn long.

Then the AutoCAD test. Do halfway and feel the pee wanna burst out already. Then I decided to pass up, after that then I realised that I forget to draw the through hole on the top view! WT*%*^%* Feel down and went home directly after that.

Doing my song arranging work in evening and fell asleep halfway. But I feel I have improved much (and with the help of my gears), the arranging sounds quite decent, but still need more polishing. Feel satisfied. but still a lot to be done, will leave it for tomorrow.

And..common test is getting nearer, and I am still doing these things lol!
